About us and our breeding program.

We have been breeding Australian Labradoodles since 2011.
Our Breeding Dogs

Our family is Australian Heritage Labradoodles.

We are located in the heart of the southeast, in the scenic city of Chattanooga, Tennessee.  We became Australian Labradoodle breeders out of pure love and respect for this rare breed.  Our oldest daughter wanted nothing more than to have a dog of her own, but she was extremely allergic.  After years of research, we knew the answer was a quality multigeneration Australian Labradoodle!  We have fallen in love, slight obsession, with these gentle, intelligent and cuddly dogs.  I was determined to bring quality bloodlines to Tennessee!  It has given us much joy to provide therapy, service dogs and loving pets for so many amazing families!

What sets us apart from other breeders?

All of our breeding dogs and puppies are raised in our home with my family.
Because we are a small program, we can spend the extra time needed for proper one on one socialization.
This is critical for developing their gentle, loving
temperaments.
Our puppies are raised using protocols from Puppy Culture, which is the gold standard
in puppy rearing and early socialization.

Here at Australian Heritage Labradoodles, we not only follow the rigorous health testing guidelines of the Australian Labradoodle Association of America ALAA and the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association WALA,
but we go above and beyond to ensure the highest quality puppies possible.
To find out more on our health testing, visit OUR DOGS page.

Our puppies are purpose-bred
to develop only the most exclusive and healthy
Australian Labradoodle lineage for future generations.

Our mission is to protect the integrity of the Australian Labradoodle
breed by always upholding the value of

quality over quantity!

My Story

Picture
Hi, I'm Mandy, the owner and operator of Australian Heritage Labradoodles.  I am always asked why I breed dogs.  It can be a quite controversial thing to share with people that I am a dog breeder, and with the PC culture that we live in today, it can even be a bit scary.   I believe wholeheartedly that bringing healthy, happy puppies into this world, and responsibly homing them with amazing families, cannot be a bad thing.  I am proud of what I do, and I see blessings through my dogs everyday.
Here is a little of my personal journey...
It's always said that when one door closes, another one opens, and this is very much what I've experienced when it comes to my personal journey into breeding ALDs.   I grew up loving animals, like most children.  In high school, my plan was to be a veterinarian.  I was given the opportunity to be part of a mentorship program that allowed me to work at a veterinary clinic, as part of my school curriculum during my senior year.  It was there that I realized that I am very allergic to cats and some dogs.  As I was observing a laser surgery one morning, I got a serious wake up call.  Standing there in the operating room, wearing full sanitary gear; mask, gloves, cap etc, I experienced a full blown allergy attack!  My nose began to run, my eyes were itching, I felt like I couldn't breathe and I couldn't do anything about it.  Add the heat from the gear, lights and laser, the smell of burning flesh, and I nearly had a panic attack.  I knew this wasn't a feasible option for a career.   When I was in college, not for veterinary medicine, I decided that I wanted to breed dogs as a hobby.  I bought two amazing English Bulldogs, one beautiful brindle and one fawn that had UGA IV bloodlines.  I worked very closely with my vet in order to be successful in breeding them,  and to ensure that I was producing amazing puppies.  If you are familiar with bulldogs, you know that they do not breed naturally, and nothing is easy with an English Bulldog.  I studied genetics, hormone testing, artificial insemination, C-sections, the whelping and raising of puppies.  I loved every minute of it.  It was a way to fulfill my love of working with animals.  I know what you are thinking, "I thought you were allergic?".  Yes, I was allergic to my dogs.  I took medication, cleaned, washed and sneezed a lot.  I was, in short, willing to suffer.  Because the breed was so difficult, it actually allowed me to learn a lot, in a short amount of time.
When my first daughter was just shy of 2 years old, she developed asthma, that became so bad, we had to give her breathing treatments twice a day.  We were told that her asthma was caused by her allergies, and that's when we realized that she too was allergic to dogs.  Because her allergy was so severe, we made the difficult decision to gift our 2 dogs to our friends that couldn't have children, so that my daughter could breath in her own home.  Our family was left without a pet for many years.
When my daughter turned 8, we started a search for an "allergy friendly" dog.  She was obsessed with dogs, and was determined to have one of her own.  I was determined to help her.  After nearly 2 years of research and talking to a multitude of different people, we decided to give multigen Australian Labradoodles a try.  The only problem was that we were in Tennessee, and most of the quality ALD breeders were on the west coast.   On a leap of faith, we placed a deposit for a multigen Australian Labradoodle.  It was truly love at first sight!  We named her Truly because what else could she be?  It was TRUE.  Neither me nor my daughter had an allergic reaction to her.  Truly was the sweetest baby.  We lived on the lake, and she was able to hike and swim with us.  I knew I had found my breed!  I set out to on a mission to share these amazing dogs with people that had never heard of them, and with people that thought that they could never have a dog.
I love that I am able to raise dogs in my home, without suffering, and I love that I get to add so much joy to so many lives.  It is life changing.  A dog's love and affection is literally therapy for the soul.   It is amazing to watch my puppies grow up, as I receive photos and notes from people about their dogs, and how they have changed their lives.   I feel so blessed to have the cutest, most unconditional love everyday, and it's a huge gift that I get to share with others.  I love my job, and I know it is a benefit, not a burden to the world.
