How do I adopt an AHL puppy?

Step one:
Submit an Application Form.
Application Form
Reservations are first come, first serve.  Reservations are held once the application and deposit of $500 are received and approved.  We will contact you within 48 hours of receiving your online application.  If you haven't heard from us within 48 hours, please contact us.  Go to our "Application Form" page to fill out an application.

Step Two:
Submit a Deposit of $500.
The deposit is non-refundable.
Once we have approved your application, you will receive an email with an invitation to place a deposit. After receiving the deposit, you will be placed on our reservations list.  We will use email to keep you updated on planned litters. We will let you know the anticipated due date of the litter once we have a successful honeymoon .  If you are not able or interested in adopting a puppy in the litter that you have a reservation for, you can move your deposit to the waiting list for a future available litter. It will be your responsibility to inform me when you are ready to be placed back on the active reservation list.

Step 3:
Puppies are born.
Australian Heritage Labradoodles will email you with the official birth announcement, once puppies are born and you have a confirmed spot in the litter.  We will send you photos of the puppies and let you know how many puppies there are.  At this time the signed purchase agreements are due.   This will solidify your adoption!  As the puppies grow, you will receive emails with updates and puppy pictures, so that you can track their progress. We will also provide you with the litter's timeline, including introduction Date and the Go Home Date.  These are set from the very beginning so that you can plan ahead.
If a puppy needs to stay for an extended time after the scheduled pick up day, it must be approved at this time.  Extended stay is not always an option as we often plan vacations between litters.
Boarding cost is $45 per day, after the last scheduled pick up date.

Step 4:
Final payment and puppy assignments.
The puppies receive their first round of immunizations at 6 weeks old, so that we can begin the matching process for each puppy with their FURever family.  The families are invited to come and play with the available puppies.  We schedule introductions in order of the deposit dates, so you will only be introduced to puppies that are available to you.  Puppies are chosen by the families based on our recommendations and the families' preferences.  If the family cannot visit on the designated day, the puppy must be chosen virtually.
Once a puppy is matched with it's FURever family, the final payment of $3000 is due.
We also ask that travel arrangements be made at this time, if needed.
Flights will depend on availability, and must be paid for prior to being scheduling.
To find out details about shipping or flying home with your puppy, visit our "Pricing & Payments" page, or contact us with questions.

Am I ready to adopt a puppy?

Questions to ask yourself before adopting a puppy:
  •  Am I prepared to lose sleep, clean up messes, supervise the kids when they're playing with the puppy, go outside in the cold, dark rain to potty the puppy, arrange meals three times a day for several weeks?
  • Do I have the time to devote to daily training sessions? Weekly puppy classes? Is there someone at home during the day to spend time with the puppy?
  • Am I prepared to sit down and thoroughly read and digest the information the breeder supplies?
  • Am I absolutely certain that I am ready? Are the kids ready? Is the entire family ready?

When adopting a puppy, you are taking on a lifetime commitment!  The average lifespan of an ALD is 12-15 years.  These dogs are active and very intelligent.  They are also very companion oriented, and will need an active social environment, training and exercise.

The love and attention you give your puppy will be returned to you many times over! They will truly become the love of your life.

 Important Fine Print:
Please remember that we do not have control over Mother Nature.  We plan litters in advance, but heat cycles and pregnancies cannot be guaranteed.  Things happen, but we do everything in our control to ensure that puppies are made available according to our plans.  We will always update our reservation holders with any changes that may arise, and we ask that everyone be willing to work with us during these times.
Please know that there are no guarantees on color, markings or sex.  It is up to genetics as to what puppies we get.  We are not custom making stuffed animals, and expect the commitment of becoming a PAWrent be taken seriously and made a priority over any superficial quality.  My puppies are intended to be permanent family members, and compatibility is our top priority! At any time Australian Heritage Labradoodles can refuse the sale of any puppy by refunding the full amount of monies paid, and will do so if we feel it is in the best interest of the puppy.  I will not send a puppy home to anyone that demands, or is stubborn about superficial qualities of a puppy or our process.  Australian Heritage Labradoodles reserves the right to retain any puppy from every litter for our breeding program or fellow breeder.  This will always be the first picks from the litter.  All puppies sold for use as service work dogs will be allocated based solely on testing, specific to the needs of service training.  These dogs will be allocated prior to dogs sold as pets.

Throughout this process we are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have, and our support doesn't stop when your puppy leaves our home.  We offer lifetime support with each one of our puppies and will always be available to help you in any way we can!
Puppies are always welcome back into our home, however I can not give refunds. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us!
